Hiromi Kuniyasu
I create pieces in both sculptural and pottery form. Currently I am more interested in creating pottery forms; I call them "still functional". While I was studying ceramics, I found that the medium itself is a metaphor for human life. The material, process, and environment determine the outcome of a piece; like social circumstances influence a person’s characteristics. I sometimes incorporate specific themes in my pieces. Even if people do not see the theme or disagree with my thought, my pieces are still functional as containers.
