Linda Sullivan
For some time, I have alternated between making wheel-thrown and hand-formed stoneware and porcelain fired to 2300 F in electric kilns. Having always been drawn to all kinds of landscapes, my work evolved naturally to include distinctive self-developed, multi-layered glazes that evoked landscape imagery. While I still produce that work, I have become fascinated over the past few years with development of crystalline glazes, using simple wheel-thrown porcelain forms and complex firing schedules. Both types of work demonstrate the special interest in developing unique glazes that I have had since graduate school at Northern Illinois University, where I received a Master of Fine Arts degree.
